The Red Mile is a casino and hotel found on Porrima III in the Porrima system. It offers gamblers a range of ways to win big, while also providing brave travellers with the opportunity to win fortune and fame through the Red Mile challenge.

The Red Mile is split into three separate areas: the Spaceport, the Casino and the Red Mile Run. The Spaceport is where you'll land your ship, the Casino is a three-floor bar with gambling tables and slot machines, while the Red Mile is a hazardous stretch of path leading to a signal tower. Red Mile becomes a key part of one of the main Freestar Collective Missions, with On the Run seeing the player investigate the seedy locale in more detail.

How to Reach The Red Mile

After escaping the mine on Jemison and heading to New Atlantis with Vasco as part of the main quest, you'll be able to freely explore the galaxy. From this point onwards, The Red Mile will be open to you, although it's worth noting that the game recommends you be around level 30 before heading there.

When you're ready, you'll want to search the galaxy map for the Porrima System. It's marked on the map in the picture above. When you have it locked, jump there.

When you're in Porrima, you'll then want to seek out Porrima III. It's shown on the map above. Pull up the planet's map and then look for the Red Mile icon to land at the club.

Exploring The Red Mile

Below we'll take a look at every main area in The Red Mile, giving you a rundown of all the different vendors you can meet, quests you can pick up and items you can acquire. Looking for a specific district of Neon? Jump between them using the links below:

Red Mile Spaceport

After landing in Red Mile, you'll find yourself docked just outside of the club. Make sure to wear a space suit, helmet and pack as the air outside isn't breathable. When you depart, you'll see the large neon sign for the Red Mile in front of you.

Look for an airlock just below the giant Red Mile sign to gain access to the club. Once you're through the airlock, you can remove your spacesuit, as the air is breathable once again. Here, you'll find a large lobby. There isn't much to do here outside of talking with an NPC called Stocker. All Stocker really has to talk to you about is the private security company she works for, Ecliptic, although you can glean some new details about the club through your conversation.

In the Ship Services office at the back of the room, you'll meet Lon Andersson, who can repair your ship or sell you upgrades. Compared to most other ship services clerks, Lon has a wide range of stock, selling you tons of different parts from various manufacturers, including Taiyo, Hopetech and Stroud-Eklund. He's also able to sell you a wide range of pre-built ships, both big and small. His lineup ranges between 85,000 credits and 253,000 credits.

Red Mile Casino

Through the doors in the lobby, you'll enter the Red Mile Casino. There are a number of things to do here, including speaking to Mei Devine, who can usually be found leaning on the railing to the right of the bar or next to the glass cases to the right of where you entered.

Mei can give you more details about the Red Mile, but more importantly, she can initiate the Red Mile Run, allowing you to complete a lap of the circuit. You'll have to do at least one run to complete the On the Run side mission, but you can complete multiple runs if you're looking to get additional experience, credits and loot.

You can also speak to Sati Chandra at the bar to purchase weapons, ammo, medical supplies and drinks. You can also rent a room from Sati, allowing you to stay in a room located up the stairs opposite her bar. Rent for one night is 300 credits and one week is 2,000 credits. To the left of the bar, you'll find one NPC of note. A man named Donovan Rhys is chatting to some other patrons. If you buy him a Runner's Rush from Sati, he'll tell you he holds the record for the most completions of Runner's Mile and gives you some pointers for finishing the challenge. They aren't particularly useful, so it's not essential to chat with him.

Other NPCs worth chatting to are a Missile Weapons Specialist and an EM Weapon Specialist. They can be recruited to your ship for 6,500 credits and 7,250 credits respectively. After you're done in the bar, you can head over to Mei to begin the Red Mile run. She'll run through the rules and then make an announcement to her patrons. When the announcement is done, the shutter on the bottom level of the bar will open, allowing you to begin the run.

Red Mile Run

After heading through the doors, you'll be taken down a winding staircase towards an airlock. Cycle it to enter a small area with both a weapons and spacesuit workbench you can use to upgrade your gear. Feel free to customize or alter anything before heading out; the Red Mile Run has no time limit.

When you're ready, head through the door next to the workbenches and follow the path to an elevator leading to the bottom of the crater. From here, you'll see a precarious, snowy path winding up the hill ahead. To complete the challenge, you need to race up this path and reach the beacon at the end of the route.

Along the way, you'll be attacked by Red Mile Maulers, which are small beasts with high endurance. They pack a punch up close, deal poisonous ranged damage and can eat a lot of bullets before going down, so don't worry too much about killing all of them. They're merely an obstacle meant to halt you as you race for your prize. If you've unlocked the Anti-Gravity Field power, it can make the run much easier, halting any Maulers in their tracks for a few seconds as you race ahead for the tower.

At the top of the snowy hill, you'll enter a small industrial area with various metal walkways leading up to the Red Mile beacon. Manoeuvre up them and look for a big yellow podium with a red button at the centre of the path. To complete the challenge, you want to press this button and then run all the way back to the casino. However, if this is your first time doing the Red Mile Run, make sure to loot the corpse to the right of the podium. Among several good bits of gear, you'll find the Grunt Issue 01 magazine, which permanently increases ballistic weapon damage.

After the button has been pressed, you'll want to sprint back to the tower, although be warned that Red Mile Mauler hordes will begin to form, making your return much more hazardous. Use your boost back to leap over the maulers and haul your way back to the casino. When you arrive, you can speak to Mei to get your reward and add another notch to your completed Red Mile runs.
