Check the Luxpro Batteries
The first step you can take is checking the batteries to see if your Luxpro thermostat has a low battery.
If your thermostat is heating or cooling your home much greater or lower than you have set it to, chances are you need to replace the batteries.
Use your old batteries as a reference and get new ones. Make sure that they are inserted properly. This should fix the issue with your thermostat.
Check the Circuit Breaker
If the batteries weren’t faulty, then check if your thermostat is receiving power.
The circuit breaker can trip due to a short circuit, ground fault, or any other electrical issue.
A circuit breaker that trips frequently is definitely a serious issue. So you will need to get professional help.
Clean the Brass Contacts
You will be able to locate the contacts on the subbase. Two brass prongs can be seen above the lettering on the wire terminals.
If there are issues with the heating and cooling, squeeze the contacts together without damaging them.
You can clean the single contact pens located on the circuit board using a pencil eraser. This should fix your issue.
Adjust the Dip Switches on your Heat Pump
The dip switches are located on the back of your thermostat. Make sure that Switch1 is set to ‘On’ position and the fan switch is in the ‘Electric’ position.
For these changes to kick in, you will have to restart your thermostat.
Check the Wiring
Several issues can lead to faulty wiring. First, all the connectors need to be connected to their terminals properly.
Second, old wiring can also cause issues with your thermostat.
Finally, you should never connect a millivolt thermostat to line voltage. I would advise against fixing faulty wires by yourself.
Instead, it is best to call your electrician to come and take a look at the wiring.
Display is locked
Check for a locked sign on the screen. Tap on the icon to see “Unlock Keyboard”.
Select ‘Ok’ and press the up and down arrows to enter your lock code. Tap ‘Ok’ when you are done.
You can also reset the thermostat if you don’t remember your lock code. Your Luxpro thermostat will be unlocked when it is back on.
Other Problems with the display
Sometimes the display can go blurry or unreadable. You need to peel off the plastic from the display to get a better view.
A blank or fading display is usually due to weak batteries. If your display reads ‘Override’, it’s probably because the temperature has been raised from the programmed values.
It will go away when it reaches the next scheduled temperature.
Out of limit
If you see an ‘HI’ or ‘LO’ on the thermostat’s display, the room’s temperature is beyond the range of the thermostat.
The reading will be shown on the screen once the room’s temperature goes back to normal.
If you think the temperature isn’t above or below the range of the thermostat, you should try resetting the thermostat.
Restart the thermostat
One of the easiest and most effective troubleshooting techniques is restarting the thermostat.
Underneath the screen, you’ll find a cover that has several buttons.
Find the power button from the list and press it. This will switch it off. Wait for at least 5 minutes and use the same power button to switch it on.
This should fix most of the issues with your thermostat.
Reset the thermostat
If the restart doesn’t let you go back to the required temperature, or the thermostat is stuck and unresponsive, you should try resetting it.
Thankfully, the Luxpro comes with a reset button. So all you need to do is find it in the same panel with the power button. You can see ‘Reset’ written next to it.
Press and hold for 5 to 10 seconds, and you’ll see the screen blinking. The thermostat will restart, and any issue will be solved along with it.
Clean the thermostat
Dust or other particles can mess up the functioning of your thermostat. So, it would be best if you cleaned it regularly.
The easiest way is to take a small brush and dust off anything you can find.
