Go Live and Share Screen are the features that you'd use to stream your gameplay, a show, or other apps to the people on your Discord server or in a chat. Read on to learn more about streaming with Discord on a computer, phone, or tablet.

Quick Steps

  1. Navigate to the voice channel or chat where you want to live stream.
  2. Start a voice call if necessary.
  3. Click or tap the Screen Sharing icon to start streaming.
  4. Click or tap the icon again to stop sharing your screen.

Navigate to a voice chat where you'd like to share your screen. Up to 50 people can share their screens at the same time.

    • You can share your screen in a voice channel, a group, or private chat.
    • You need screen sharing permissions to be able to stream in a voice chat in any server.
  2. 2

Click the Stream Screen icon. It looks like a monitor with a curved arrow inside it. You'll find this icon near the bottom of your app window or browser window to the right of the application you're using, like "Google Chrome" or "Word."

    • If you're in a DM or group chat, you need to start a call before you can start streaming. Simply click the phone receiver or video camera icon to initiate the call.

  3. 3

Select the streaming options. Use the first drop-down under "What You're Streaming" to select an application running on your computer that you want to stream. If you don't see the application or game you're running here, you need to add it first in User Settings > Registered Games.

    • If you're using a web browser on desktop, you can choose which tab to share instead of your applications. Audio doesn't stream automatically in a web browser and only works through Chromium web browsers, like Chrome and Edge; click the audio sharing icon to start sharing what's playing through your speakers.
    • Select a voice channel to stream under "Select a voice channel."
    • Set your stream quality next. Only Nitro users can stream with HD resolution. However, you don't need a Nitro subscription to stream altogether.
  4. 4

Click Go Live. You'll see this option after you select the options in the previous step.

    • Tap the red icon to stop sharing your screen.[1]
    • To watch a stream, click the eye next to the person who's live.
    • You can also steam to Discord from the overlay if you're in a fullscreen application. Open the overlay by pressing Shift + ` and select Go Live.

Navigate to a channel or chat where you'd like to share your screen. Tap the channel and tap Join Voice. If you're in a chat, tap the phone receiver icon to start a call.

    • You can share your screen in a voice channel, a group, or private chat.
    • You can double-tap a voice channel to join, or tap the channel and tap Join Voice.
    • Only Android phones and tablets running Android 5 and up can videoshare and those with Android 10 or up can audioshare at the same time. So if you can't stream with audio, you mostly have a version of Android older than 10.
  2. 2

Tap the Share Your Screen icon. It looks like a phone screen with a curved arrow inside it.

    • If you're in a voice call, swipe up from the bottom of your screen to expand the menu of 4 icons.
    • If you're in a video call, the Share Your Screen icon will be in the menu at the bottom of your screen. You may need to tap your screen to prompt it to appear.
  3. 3

Tap Start now. The warning states that everything, including passwords, audio, and payment information, that shows on your screen will also appear on the screen share.

    • Tap the red icon to stop sharing your screen.[2]
    • To watch a stream, tap Join/Watch Stream on your friend's stream preview.
